What do you find most helpful, and problematic about social media?

Social media can be very helpful when you know how to use it the right way and not get carried away with it. I have found that Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family that live far away. But some people think that is a place to meet strangers and be in relationships with them, and then they think they can tell everyone about every detail in there lives. The truth is no one cares about every single thing you did that day, or what your boyfriend did to you. This is where there can be problems, bulling, and drama can be done so easily on social media it is sad that people can do awful things to people that can be seen by everyone. You need to be careful how you use social media, and make sure you are using it the right way, you don't want to loose friends because you posted a bad picture of them think about stuff before you post it.

Why is it important to fuse social media with communication?

I have been following my local Newspapers and News stations on twitter for quite awhile now, they give updates on what is going on in the area from the weather to breaking news about events that have taken place. I think that it is important to fuse social media with communication because everybody has some form of social media and will see the news at some point in time. They are meant to be together in my opinion they have to to have each other in oder to function properly. Communication is very important in almost every situation or event that takes place, you need to know how to communicate appropriately and make it meaning full, the way social media gives you the opportunity to say what you want my be a little to free rein but you get to see the way people really are and how they react in situations.

Name the event in your life that helps define who you are, and why:

Living on a dairy farm you never know what is going to happen day to day. So you are usually prepared for the unexpected, but in march i was not ready for what was about to happen. I was watching my cousins with my mom when we got the call that there was a fire at the farm and they think that it is a barn. All that I can think is that this is it, no more cows, no more farm, there is no way my dad will be able to say in business. So we started calling everyone we could think of and then my dad finally calls and says "The garage is on fire I gotta go." With that we were a little relieved that it wasn't one of the barns that housed the cows. Then we started to think of all of the stuff we had in there, considering the garage was only seven years old we had just gotten it organized and stocked with all of the things we need to have on the farm. When we got home and saw all of the fire trucks lined up along the road and tons of vehicles, it just made you sick to your stomach. When we got to the driveway, where the garage once stood was a  heap of metal and not much more. You could see the skeletons of the five tractors that were parked in there all had a story of their own including my dad and brothers tractor that they would pull at the fairs, and then the first tractor that my grand father had bought brand new that had been redone to look just like new. My grand father had just passed away in January so this by far was the worst part.
With the weeks of dealing with the insurance company and cleaning up the mess there us a garage up and standing in its place today, with hopes of re building 3 of the five tractors. This right here shows that when something comes up you have to deal with it and move on. My family has been through many things but this tested if we wanted to stay farming, wether or not it was worth doing things that we haven't done before. Live your life like there is no tomorrow because you never know you might not be here tomorrow.

Take a picture of your favorite place and then describe why it is so important to you.

My favorite place to be is at my families camp on the lake, it has the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, it is a place that family and friends can gather and have a good time. From bonfires, and boat rides to fishing and trying to catch cray fish with a flashlight, there is always something to do to have a good time. Maine is such a beautiful place and this place fits right in.

Finish this sentence: As a writer, I will consider myself successful when …

As a writer, I will consider myself successful when... I have gained all of the knowledge possible to make me the best writer I can be. By stating this I hope that with taking this class on professional writing it will give me the experience and confidence to be proud of what I write and maybe share them with people other than in my class. It has always been hard for me to tell people how I feel or what I am thinking and I believe that I may be able to express myself through words while writing in this class. I need to have an open mind and not hold anything back. I have been writing all through school and never thought that I was very creative, I always have a hard time picking a topic to write about, some how I hope that, picking topics can come easier. Growing up on a farm has made most aspects of my life great and everything about life in general has been out in the open, from where babies come from to how to deal with bullies at school. Living on a farm can also have some disadvantages when it comes to school work and time. A lot of the time you have chores to do from the time you get home from school till it is time to eat dinner, leaving little or no time to do homework. Whenever I wouldn't get my homework done it would feel like I hadn't done anything for the class. I wouldn't care about my grades I would just throw anything together to get the work done and hopefully receive a passing grade. So with the question As a writer, I will consider myself successful when I take the time to enjoy doing my writing projects and have received all the knowledge available to me about writing.
